The Results of the Ultimate Challenge!!

I have been so consumed with my life lately that I forgot to tell you guys the results from the challenge. If you have been following my blog, you will remember that I challenged myself not to shop for any clothing, shoes, accessories, or home decor for the entire month of July.  I am proud to announce that I did it!! I did not buy one item from any of the categories above. I’m not going to lie and say it was an easy feat. I will say some days were easier than others.

The most difficult time for me was during my vacation in Florida. My mom and sister were shopping while I helped them pick out items for themselves. They tried to persuade me to end the challenge early so I could shop with them but I stuck to my guns. I did not purchase anything except a few souvenirs for my husband and grandparents. I am so proud of myself for being able to use self control. The best thing about this experience is that I learned discipline as well as how to become a more savvy shopper. It was also good for my bank account :). I’m sure my husband was thrilled about that!

Yesterday I went to Nordstrom Rack to return a skirt that I bought in June. Although I browsed the racks for bargains, I was able to show some restraint and think through my prospective purchases. After careful consideration, I ended up coming out of the store with nothing but a smile. I am heading to mini vacation #2 today and although I may be tempted to shop ’til I drop in the Big D I only plan to shop for Fall items. Those 31 days definitely changed my perspective.

The second best thing about this entire challenge was the fact that the family members and friends who doubted that I would be able to stop shopping for a month had to eat their words! Ahhh…sweet sweet victory :).
