Are you looking for a last-minute vacation destination for the upcoming Labor Day holiday? Are you considering staying close to home or taking a road trip because you think that flights will be extremely expensive so close to the date? Well guess what? I have some unearthed several flights under $300 from Dallas (DFW) to destinations from the east to the west departing on Friday, September 2nd and returning on Monday, Sept 5th! So without further ado, here are my top four of the many places that you COULD go!
You could fly from Dallas to Portland, Oregon for $288 RT. Portland was recently named as one of America’s Best Cities for Foodies by Travel + Leisure magazine. It is also home to Trillium Lake, one of Oregon’s most beautiful lakes that features a picturesque view of Mt. Hood in the distance. Portland also features other attractions such as the Aerial Tram, Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, Oregon Zoo, gardens, art museums and so much more.
Do you want to end your summer by the water? You could travel from Dallas to San Diego, California for $126 RT via Spirit Airlines! If you’re like me and prefer to have all your fees spelled out up front, American Airlines also provides a flight to San Diego for $196 RT. This city is also a food lover’s dream according to Travel + Leisure. San Diego is home to one of the country’s best zoos. This Southern California harbor city also offers lots of seaside attractions such as La Jolla Cove, Mission Beach, and Point Loma. You could opt to be a beach bum, participate in some water sports, or enjoy a cruise around the harbor. Sea World is also a popular attraction here. If you’re feeling really adventurous, you could head over the US-Mexico border to the city of Tijuana for a day.
Atlanta, Georgia is one of my favorite cities to visit in the southeastern US. Thanks to Delta, you could travel to this city for $212 RT this Labor Day weekend. Atlanta is a sports fanatics dream. It is home to the Braves and the Falcons. If you want to partake in a little shopping, you could check out Atlantic Station, the Lennox Mall and a plethora of little southern boutiques for some retail therapy. I bet the sales will be amazing! It is also a fun place to take children. The Georgia Aquarium and The World of Coca Cola are just a couple of family friendly options to visit during your stay in ATL. Be sure not to leave Atlanta before checking our the amazing restaurants in the city.
Lastly, if a big city getaway is what you’re looking for, a trip to the Windy City may be just what the doctor ordered. Chicago, Illinois has many great attractions like the Navy Pier, the Cloud Gate, Soldier & Wrigley Field just to name a few. This is a prime location for art and culture lovers with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Modern Museum of Art, and the Lookingglass Theater Company leading as some of Chicago’s best entertainment.
Here are just a few options for inexpensive travel options for Labor Day. There are many more. Skiplagged.com is a great resource for finding flights on a budget.
