I am working on a short story and decided I would share an excerpt of the story here. I have my family and friends on pins and needles trying to figure out where the story will go next.
It was the big day, Amelia’s wedding day. She could hardly contain her excitement. Amelia never thought that she would find true love again after losing her 1st husband, Finn, in a horrible motorcycle accident 3 years ago. On that tragic evening, she became a widow and a single parent to 3 children under ten, Makenzie, Micah, and Camille. Nothing ever seemed to be right in the world after Finn’s death. That was until she met Ethan.
Ethan came into her life like a whirlwind. He was the ideal Southern gentleman and quickly swept Amelia off her feet. He treated her like a queen. He wined and dined her. He showered her children with gifts and took them all on family outings. Her children simply adored him.
After a mere 7 months of dating, Ethan popped the question to Amelia with a 2-carat diamond and sapphire ring in front of their church congregation. Without hesitation, Amelia exclaimed YES! The church applauded and congratulated the lovebirds on their engagement.
After nine months of planning, the day had arrived for Amelia and Ethan to join in holy matrimony among 100 guests and their three children. Their evening wedding was beautiful. The church was filled with peonies, hydrangeas, and hundreds of candles. Amelia’s gown glistened in the candlelight as she made her way down the aisle to the altar. The wedding party and guests shed tears of joy as the two became one. The day was filled with love and joy. She had the wedding of her dreams. At the end of the reception, Amelia cried tears of joy. She couldn’t believe that she had been blessed to have such a beautiful love story for the second time in her life. Ethan and Amelia left the reception in a beautiful white convertible and headed down the Pacific Coast Highway. So overcome with joy Amelia yelled to the top of her lungs “ I am Mrs. Ethan Calloway!” Ethan smiled and replied “that’s right baby you are all mine!” As Amelia and Ethan rode down the PCH, she thought life couldn’t get much better than it was at that very moment. Little did she know that her fairytale romance would quickly turn into a not so beautiful nightmare.
