Upcycle your jewelry!

If you are like me you love to accessorize your outfits with jewelry! Whether it be earrings, necklaces, or bracelets, jewelry can add a bit of jazziness to any ensemble. I have a massive collection of jewelry and I was getting ready to get rid of a lot of the pieces because I had outgrown the look of them. I am currently into statement necklaces and arm candy. A lot of my necklaces were layered pieces that I hadn’t worn in a couple of years. So I decided to revamp the pieces to be able to wear them now.

So here are the pieces before:

As you guys can see these necklaces had LOTS of layers! I still liked some of the elements of the necklaces so I decided to tweak them just a little to make them fit what I like this year.

Starting with necklace number 1, I took all the layers apart and removed all the charms. I then cut one of the chains and chose to use all the cross charms to make a cross statement necklace. I used these tools to cut the necklace and the needle nose pliers to take the charms off. Then I gathered 5 jump rings and used them to attach the crosses to the chain.

Here is the final product. Very simple! Here is a picture of how I wore this necklace

In case you are wondering what my shirt says, you can check it out here.

For necklace #2 I just took the layers apart using the same tools. Afterward I chose one short layer and one long layer and combined the two together using gold jump rings.  Then I took coins off the remaining chains and added them to the necklace until I got the look I was going for. Here is the final product.

Here is how the necklace looks when styled. This picture doesn’t really do it justice.

I will try to take a better picture when I style it again 🙂 I still have lots of pieces remaining of both necklaces. I plan to make more pieces from them so stay tuned. So the next time you get tired of a piece of jewelry in your closet, don’t throw it out! Revamp it and make it fit your style!
