Summer 2016 is officially here! Is it me or is this year stuck in overdrive? I feel like I was just chilling in my flannel pjs telling y’all “Happy New Year” last month. Anyway, what are you guys planning to do this summer? I don’t know about you but I am in desperate need of a vacation ASAP. Seriously it has been 4 months since my last getaway to New Orleans and I need a travel fix STAT #firstworldprobs #traveladdict. Y’all know I live for a vacation! Everyone has a vice. My vice just happens to be cute shoes and traveling.
Speaking of shoes, platform shoes are so trendy right now. I love these platform snakeskin inspired shoes that I purchased from Nine West as a birthday gift to myself.
They were on sale for $29, they are uber comfortable, and I just had to have them (shhhh they matched my leather jacket ;). I have been finding any reason to wear them so of course they were my inspiration for this month’s Thrift It Clique themed summer style photo shoot.
Summers in Texas are ridiculously hot so I try to dress in light layers. My go to outfits during summer are usually light dresses or either skirts and tank tops. You can’t tell by this photo but I was a hot sweaty mess at 10 AM! This light washed denim skirt was originally from Old Navy but I got it from the thrift store for a buck. This will be a fun piece to style during this summer.
Just in case you’re wondering, I usually carry a trusty leather jacket for indoor locations. Restaurants and other venues tend to blast the A/C due to the sweltering heat so I make sure I’m prepared.
FYI If I had to do this shoot again, I would probably tie the shirt a bit so the layers wouldn’t look so blah but I was hot and tired and couldn’t be bothered looking put together at this point. Some days you just go with the flow and be the best bum you can be LOL #reality
