My life lately has been a bit of a whirlwind filled with travel, work, and excitement. I took a little time off for blogging to enjoy some quality time with my family and friends. I had a bit of writer’s block. I realized that I had to take a step back from the computer to be able to regroup and get my spark of creativity back. You all have missed out on a lot. Here is an inside look at what’s been going on in my world lately.
I am STILL in the midst of my no shopping challenge. I can’t believe that I have not shopped for any clothing, shoes, or accessories for myself since December 28th! My official end date for this personal challenge is May 1st and I am super stoked. I have big plans to revamp my wardrobe to fit my current style aesthetic and size.
I am attempting to do a gluten-free diet. It is very challenging but I am really starting to like it. I read that it reduces inflammation in the body so I wanted to try it out to see if it helps with the inflammation in my neck. My hubby and I were in a car accident years ago and I sustained whiplash. I thought the injury was healed but unfortunately there is a lot of inflammation in my neck. I am petrified of a chiropractor so I wanted to try a natural alternative first. I have a thing with the sound of cracking bones and people touching my neck . So far the results I have seen with the diet are awesome. I have less bloating in my abdomen and I have lost a few pounds and inches in my waistline. I also have been able to concentrate much more. For months I felt I had walked around with a brain fog. I was having brain farts frequently. Since I started this diet I feel my brain has fired on all cylinders.
Business and pleasure has taken us to Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and SC in the past few weeks. This past weekend was the first weekend in the past few weeks that I actually slept in my bed. It was amazing!
While in SC I was able to spend time with family. We surprised my grandmother by flying home to help celebrate her 80th birthday party. It was great! She was so happy to see us. She is my last living grandparent so I wouldn’t have missed it for the world.
While in SC we also got to meet our niece Sa”Niya for the first time. She was baking the last time we visited home.
Lastly, this week marked my last semester teaching at CTX. It has been very bittersweet because this was my first job as a nursing professor. I am so excited that I was able to impact so many students in my short time at Concordia. And I am going to miss my coworkers and former students dearly. My husband and I are in transition waiting on his next job relocation assignment. I can’t wait until we know where we are going next! Sometimes I feel like a nomad!
That’s the highlight reel folks. Hopefully I can blog more now that I have more time on my hands!
