Have you ever just broken out into a dance or have you been caught bobbing your head to a song that was on repeat in your head? Did you get blank stares from strangers who were confused to what was happening or maybe wondering if you needed to seek a psychiatrist? Well you my friend are a music lover. I love all kind of music. It can incite feelings of happiness, give you a boost of energy when you are tired, lift your spirits if you are sad and much more. I think my brain has now become a jukebox filled with songs that I can access on a dime. I can’t seem to turn it off. It causes me to sing screech notes spontaneously or dance like no one’s watching.
My life has a never-ending soundtrack. I have associated a song with different experiences in my life. Today I wanted to share with you all some of my favorite songs that I think about when traveling to different destinations. Here is a quick playlist from my life in stereo.
- New York City: ~Empire State of Mind by Alicia Keys
- London: American Boy by Estelle
- Mexico: A Long Walk by Jill Scott
- Virginia: All I Have to Give by Mali Music
- Oklahoma: Oklahoma Broadway Musical by Gordon McRae
- California: California Love by 2Pac
- Florida: Golden by Jill Scott
- Las Vegas: Viva Las Vegas by Elvis Presley
- Austin: Locked out of Heaven by Bruno Mars
- Dallas: Bright Lights Bigger City by CeeLo Green
From this list you can tell that tropical locations that are relaxing seem to inspire the mellow music whereas city destinations remind me of high energy songs or broadway plays.
And the beat goes on. So tell me what’s playing on your life’s jukebox? What’s your favorite song at the moment. Let’s chat about it.
Lately I’ve been thinking of a lot of classic oldies. But there’s one contemporary hit that’s been playing in my mind and that’s “Sing” by Ed Sheeran. If it ever comes on the radio while I’m in the car, I’ll turn it way up, sing along, car dance, the whole nine.
You know I don’t think I have ever heard that song but I will definitely check it out. It must be pretty awesome if it makes you break out into a car dance!
Lol, yes it is!
I love all kinds of music and I’m not sure I have a favorite. It’s usually seasonal love, depending on what state I’m in. Recently, I’ve been listening to Gray by Da Truth, Elevate me by Damita and I see fire by Ed Sheeran. Mental clarity, perspective and stretching to the next level has been such an ambition of mine lately. So music that promotes that, that’s where I’m at.
I love Da Truth & Damita! I haven’t heard these songs yet so I will have to check it out. I love your musical perspective. Happy jamming 🙂
Thnks. Music is always for the soul. I’m trying to respect it. Happy jamming to you also. Looking forward to reading more posts.
I have definitely accidentally started singing out loud because a song was in my head… can be awkward! 🙂
Most definitely Skye. It is especially embarrassing for me since I can’t carry a tune in a bucket!
When I’m in Florida Locked Out of Heaven with Bruno Mars seems to be stuck in my head.
Louida that song is addictive! I have it in my commuter playlist and I sing it loud and proud as I’m driving…with the windows rolled up of course LOL!
You’ve listed some great songs here!
I’m all about that Cali love. But then too, I’m biased. 😉
