The encouraging word of the day is … happiness! I often wonder what most people think happiness is. Webster Dictionary defines happiness this way.
Webster tells us that happiness is a state of being happy but he fails to mention the blueprint for getting there. Fortunately the Bible gives us some direction so let’s take some notes from God‘s definition of happiness.
When we read the word “happiness” in the Bible, it is speaking of something that is self-contained. In other words, you can experience happiness regardless of your circumstances. The happiness the Bible advocates does not come from what you have. It isn’t dependent on whether things are going well. It comes from who you know. I am referring the Lord himself.
Here are just a few scriptures that tell us how to experience happiness:
- Psalm 89:15: Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship, for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord.
- Psalms 144:15 says, Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD!
- Psalms 128:1-2 “1. Blessed is every one that feareth the Lord; that walketh in his ways. 2. For thou shalt eat the labour of thine hands: happy shalt thou be, and it shall be well with thee.”
- Proverbs 28:14 “Happy is the man that feareth always: but he that hardeneth his heart shall fall into mischief.”
Happy are the people whose God is Lord! Real happiness begins and ends with him. is where you begin to see the fulfillment of happiness! Now ask yourself today, are you happy?? Only you and God can answer that one… Happiness begins now when you start with Him.
