I went to California for the first time in December of 2011 and I fell head over heels in love. Honestly if the cost of living wasn’t so ridiculously expensive, I would pack up my home and move there permanently. Yes…it was that serious! At least I can enjoy all the memories I had there and visit over and over again. My hubby and I actually made this trip to Catalina Island on Earth Day 2012. We wanted to venture somewhere outdoors so that we could bask in the glory of nature and a visit to Catalina Island fit the bill. I won’t bore you with a million details. I will let the photos tell the story! Just click on a photo to start the gallery.
The journey begins! We had to take a ferry to get to the other side of the street.
First time riding in a car on a boat 🙂
A little nervous but very excited. I was worried I was going to get sea sick and I can’t swim LOL!
Sailing the open sea.
Approaching Catalina. It’s beautiful.
Excited!
Love the colors of the houses on the island.
Ready to explore the island.
Our ride on the island 🙂
I may have a new job. Watch out Vanna White.
Funky plants in the garden.
First time seeing a cactus up close.
We went hiking up this hill.
I thought I was halfway there….
until I saw these steps! It was like the stairs that never end. We were so tired when we got to the top. Other people were there dreading going back down LOL.
We took our golf cart to the top of the hills. Here is the stunning view.
While we were up there we decided to go zip lining. Just kidding. My husband wanted to but I am a big chicken. Sadly I felt even more cowardly when an 8 year old boy did it with his mom.
Away he goes.
We had lunch here at El Galleon. We did not have a good experience. We wouldn’t eat here again.
After lunch we headed out on a sea adventure on a glass bottom boat. It was so cool.
Check out the school of fish.
They got up close and personal.
This bird was ready for his photo op.
Alas it was time to head back across the ocean.
Our boat heading to the dock.
Hello Newport Beach 🙂
Isn’t Catalina Island simply gorgeous! Going through these pictures made me feel like I was in the moment all over again. I will have to find something awesome to do for Earth Day this year. I am not sure if I will be able to top this adventure though. If you are ever in beautiful California, make sure you take a day trip to Catalina Island. I can assure you that you will be glad you did 🙂
It really is not that expensive you just went to one of the most expensive places lol….It’s so worth it to live here I live in a beautiful mountain town and it’s great. I’m from the SC so I can appreciate city/mountain living:) Places like Catalina is where you go to get away for a while
You are probably right! My hubby was living in Orange County for a while and even TJ Maxx was expensive. Maybe I need to investigate a little further. I hear the Pacific Ocean calling my name! Thanks for reading 🙂
