“You have the same amount of hours in a day as Beyoncé. “
I’ve been hearing this quote a lot lately. Of course it’s a true statement unless you consider the fact that your number or Beyoncé’s could be called at anytime and *poof* bye bye Earth…but let’s not focus on that. This quote is just a simple reminder that we all have 24 hrs in a day to become who we desire to be and to make our dreams come true. For Beyonce, that may mean spending her 24 hours doing whatever it takes to be the “Black Bill Gates in the making.” Do you boo. I ain’t mad at you. My sights have never been set on becoming rich. Financially stable, yes. Rich and successful, meh. I would much rather be rich in experiences and love. This is why I would choose to devote those precious hours to travel. Rick Steves said it best “travel is rich with learning opportunities and the ultimate souvenir is a broader perspective.”
I have been questioning myself a lot lately. If I love to travel so much then why don’t I travel more? I’m not a baller by any stretch of the imagination so vacationing frequently is definitely not in the cards for me. (Thank you student loans!) However, I can take a day trip or 2 or 3. Who’s counting?
It almost takes an act of Congress for most Americans to take a day off but if you love something, it’s important to make time and make room in your budget for it. So I am challenging myself and all of my readers to travel somewhere new for a day at least once or twice a month. Take a friend, go solo, go with your family and explore a new area. Make amazing memories. Life is too short to wait for vacation days and gas prices in the US are surprisingly low right now. Sounds like a great time to travel.
To make the process easier, I will be creating itineraries for day trips that require travel time of 3 hrs or less by plane, train, or automobile one way. I also will be focusing on making them as affordable as possible.
Are you up for the challenge? Let me know in the comments below. Also please let me know your location so that I have ideas of places to customize itineraries for. After all, I do this for you guys. 🙂
