Weekend in New York City

I wrote this blog post back in June 2013 and somehow it got lost in the list of drafts that I have failed to publish. Please forgive me. I promise the photos will make it all better!

New York City is a place that I have wanted to visit since I was a child. The portrayal of the  hustle and bustle of the city in movies and on television intrigued me. I always said that one day I would stand in the middle of Times Square and revel in all the city had to offer. Well, after 28 years, I finally was blessed to be able to make the journey to NYC!

I was super excited when we arrived. I’m sure I was smiling from ear to ear. Did I mention that the Cookie Monster and Elmo were there to greet me with open arms (and smelly armpits)?  My dream of walking the streets of NYC was finally coming to pass!

Unfortunately that excitement quickly turned to disappointment. The weather apparently did not get the memo that I was coming to town. To our dismay, it rained about 75% of the time we were there. We tried to grin and bear it as much as we could but it really put a damper on our weekend. We were only able to do a few things that I outlined in my itinerary. But on the bright side, we now have the perfect excuse to return in the future. Hopefully next time the concrete jungle will welcome us with clear sunny skies. I wasn’t able to get many photos but I would like to share some of the highlights with all of you.

Apparently we looked lost so the nice lady at the airport gave us several maps of NYC

Central Park. Such a peaceful retreat in a city stuck in fast forward mode!

I just had to try some "street meat" in Central Park. I think I will pass the next time!

Window lusting!
Walking 5th avenue, window lusting! I loved that Union Jack clutch from Alexander McQueen. The price tag…not so much.

I would be remised if I didn't hit up the worlds most awesome toy store FAO Schwartz! I think I had more fun roaming the candy section .

The presentation was beautiful. Unfortunately the taste of the food left A LOT to be desired!!

Then after freezing for an hour we walked several blocks to find NY style pizza. Just for the record, I think Chicago has a better pie. Don't come for me New Yorkers!

After braving the weather for 2 dreary days we decided to give in. We headed back to the hotel, changed into some dry clothing, climbed into bed and watched TV for the remainder of our trip.

One last look at NYC before we departed.

Being able to share this moment with the love of my life was just the cherry on top.

Although NYC was kind of a bust, being able to enjoy this moment with the love of my life was well…priceless!
