Heaven Gained Another Sweet Soul

It always amazes me how a person that you have never physically met can have such a huge impact on your life-sometimes without you even realizing it. This was the case for me with a beautiful little girl named Talia Joy Castellano. I stumbled upon Talia’s makeup tutorials on YouTube one day while searching for evening makeup look for an event I was going to. She instantly caught my attention. Talia (TaliaJoy18) had the most bubbly personality, exceptional makeup artistry and the most articulate speech of any preteen I have ever known.  I followed some of her vlogs and watched many of her makeup tutorials. What garnered my attention the most was the fact that this young woman (13 y/o) was so positive, strong and optimistic while battling not one but 2 deadly forms of cancer at the same time!  I’m sure she did not feel well all the time but once she was in front of that camera, she seemed to be in the zone. I loved that about her.

I have been following her Facebook page, Angels for Talia, and praying for her as she entered the final stages of this disease process. It was with sadness that I read that she earned her wings this morning after a courageous 6 year battle with her neuroblastoma and leukemia. It’s amazing how someone so young touched the lives of over 750,000 subscribers on YouTube, 2.2 million Instagram followers, celebrities, and countless others on the planet. She definitely inspired me to “keep on swimming” in the face of adversity and to never give up. Although she was only here with us for a mere 13 years, her legacy of positivity and strength will always live in our hearts. Heaven gained another sweet soul today. Rest in Peace Talia Joy. You will be missed but never forgotten!
