No Backseat for Faith

It’s so easy for me to get consumed with things going on in my life. I strive to be the best at whatever I do. This causes me to devote lots of time to tasks that need to be done now. Many times this causes me to neglect really important things like my WALK with CHRIST! I don’t want to be a traditional Sunday Christian. I don’t want to be the person who only seeks God in times of trouble. I want to live this lifestyle every single day of my life! I have sat here trying to decide how I can make sure that my faith does not take a backseat to my lifestyle anymore.

So I am taking a cue from a Muslim man I saw praying as I left the shopping mall the other day. He stopped shopping and went outside with his mat and prayed. I was astounded by his boldness in his faith and his zeal for prayer. He and his son kept praying even though people walking by kept giving him dirty looks. It made me want to be as bold about my faith in Jesus as he was about Allah. After researching a little I found out that Muslims have specific prayer times. And then it dawned on me…I can do that too!

There are 24 hours in a day so there should be no reason I can’t devote a specific time to prayer, praise, and scriptures.  I feel like the best way for me to accomplish this is to schedule it like everything else that I must get done. I believe once it is engrained into my regular routine, I will just do it automatically.

Here is my devotional schedule starting today!

0400-0445: Devotion (Bible Study, Prayer, Praise & Worship)

1200-1215: Prayer

1800-1845: Devotion (Bible Study, Prayer, Praise & Worship)

In order to stay on track I have set the alarm on my phone to go off 5 minutes before each event. I will be sharing my devotional scripture of the day with you all as well. We can all become better together!

What kind of things do you do to make sure that your faith doesn’t take a backseat? Share your tips with us!

Until next post,

Brittany

I looove this post. It is my absolute favorite. It seems like every time I try to sit and read my Bible and pray something hinders it, but this schedule will definitely help with that. We plan everything else, why not plan our special time with God.
