Christmas Traditions

It’s Christmas Eve and I am so excited. I’m like a big kid when it comes to Christmas but not for a reason you might expect. Yes gifts are nice but I love the traditions that come along with this holiday. I love the vibrant lights and the Christmas play that the drama ministry puts on at church. I enjoy shopping for the less fortunate. I especially love spending time with my family. I don’t get to see them as often as I like since they all live on the east coast (US) and I live in the southwestern US.

Every year we have a Christmas Eve dinner at my great aunt’s house. The dinner is always filled with the most unhealthy yet delectable foods you could think of. Southern cooking at its finest. Then after dinner, the children exchange gifts and we all catch up on life. Around 11 pm the adults always tell the kids that they have to get ready for bed or Santa will pass by the house. It’s so funny to watch them rush around to get ready for bed. They usually fall asleep before their parents can get them to the car.

On Christmas Day, my husband and I travel from house to house spending about a half hour or so with family before getting on the road to travel for 3 hrs to get back to his family for Christmas dinner. Needless to say we are usually exhausted by the day after Christmas. But of course we wouldn’t have it any other way!

Do you have any unique Christmas Eve or Christmas traditions? I would love to hear about them!

Until next post, Brittany
